Congress’ Big Spenders from Virginia

SWVA Thinker

lew_shecklerThe National Taxpayers Union has now issued its ratings for members of Congress. With a possible "A" score of 90 or above, Virginia senators, Warner (11) and Webb (13), earned "F"s. Virginia Ninth District Congressman Rick Boucher earned a score of 10, another "F".

In comparison to these members of Congress from Virginia, Virginia Sixth District Congressman Bob Goodlatte earned a score of 90, an "A". Goodlatte’s district is just north of Boucher’s.

The National Taxpayers Union (NTU) "is America's independent, non-partisan advocate for overburdened taxpayers. NTU mobilizes elected officials and the general public on behalf of tax relief and reform, lower and less wasteful spending, individual liberty, and free enterprise."

The big spending records of Warner, Webb, and Boucher – following President Obama’s lead – help explain why our nation is heading into devastating bankruptcy. Yes, President Obama, we need change. We need different people running the U.S. government.

The INTEREST on the debt the Obama-led Democrats are racking up will cost American taxpayers nearly $1 trillion per year by the end of the decade. Google trillion to see how much that is!

grant hallock- Are you confused? It was GW that brokered both the plan for stabilization and the withdrawal from Iraq. I will also be more than glad to give our current president good marks for Afghanistan.

[quote name="Christiansburg Thinker"]I am tired of hearing about democratic spending. .. This is not a logical argument, "He spent a lot therefore we should spend much more?" No one said GW didn't spend but in comparison we are now way out of control. Are you unaware of how far in debt we have gone in this short time compared to eight years of GW?

In 20 months, President Obama will add as much debt as President Bush ran up in eight years! From Jan. 20, 2001, to Jan. 20, 2009, the debt held by the public grew $3 trillion under Bush -- to $6.3 trillion from $3.3 trillion at a time when the national economy grew as well. By comparison, from the day Obama took office last year to the end of the current fiscal year, according to the Office of Management and Budget, the debt held by the public will grow by $3.3 trillion -- while our economy is going over the cliff.

It’s time you and the other Democrats stop bashing Bush and admit what a disaster Obama’s presidency is.

I am tired of hearing about democratic spending. Bush was one of the most spending President's in this countries history, didn't care about healthcare and left the economy in shambles. Spending is bad, but republicans better stop using that argument against democrats when such a loved republican did the same thing. Read the following article.

"The President promised that 90 percent of the jobs created would be in the private sector and that unemployment would drop to 8 percent, but the only positive job creation has been in the public sector, as private sector unemployment has risen to 9.7 percent." Thank Senators Warner and Webb and Congressman Boucher for contributing their share to this wasteful spending that is sending our economy into a tailspin!

I smell peace in the near future in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Republicans will have apoplexy if this happens. Their war stocks will be worthless.

So I guess it's ok to be off-topic as long as you're complaining about Democrats.

The Democrats' economy. We have a rising underemployment number up to 16% and we have a 9.7% unemployment rate. US non-farm payrolls declined for the 25th time in the past 26 months. Unemployment in government jobs is only 3%, and the average pay for government jobs is significantly higher than the pay in non-government jobs. This is the Warner-Webb-Boucher and other Obama-led Democrats’ "hope and change." Aint it great!!!
